Service

Service has always been an important part of the Academy of Holy Angels culture, dating back to the 1940's. Carrying forward the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph's mission to 'love thy neighbor without distinction,' you’ll find service integrated into all aspects of school life. This includes academics, student organizations, athletics, and as a yearly service requirement. Through AHA's service requirement, each student will complete at least 75 hours of service over the course of his or her four years.

Service Opportunities

In Academics

All students take theology courses in grades 9 through 12. 的 theology curriculum requires various service reflections throughout the year.
Campus Ministry Team (CMT) is a leadership class offered to seniors through an application process. 的 class has a 30-hour service component. CMT students not only participate in regular service opportunities, but they serve as leaders to other students in promoting service activities.

In Co-Curriculars

的 AHA Student Government leads the annual Christmas Basket Project, continuing a tradition that has existed in our school since 1940. 的 extended school community comes together to provide household items, 食物, and gifts for more than 40 Twin Cities families who are in transition or crisis. Student Government also sponsors blood drives throughout the school year and leads other service activities.
National Honor Society (NHS) members offer regular tutoring sessions where students can come for peer-to-peer academic support. That little bit of help often that makes all the difference.
的re are various clubs that include volunteer service as part of their mission, including: Letters of Love, Sustainability Club, Respect Life, and Social Justice to name a few.

In Athletics

的 Stars Athletic Department proudly participates in the Faith in Action program, which is focused on incorporating service and spirituality into all aspects of AHA life. Teams typically choose one activity to participate in together each season, allowing the student athletes to both build camaraderie and give back.

In the past, teams have packed 食物 at Feed My Starving Children, helped at a local non-profit walk or event, or volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society. Over 25 different Stars teams participate in the program, logging approximately 2,000 hours of service a year!

Service Requirement

的 Christmas Basket Project began in the 1940s and continues today. Every December, Student Government members and Mr. Gregg 索耶 work with the school’s long-standing community partner Family Solutions to help families with crisis intervention and life skills counseling.
